Stranger Safety - Update

Safety

Update 4/29:
Last night, we received another report of a man in a black pickup truck approaching a teenage girl.   He asked questions about her dog and her age, which made her uncomfortable.  The female ran home and the male drove away without further conversation.  This same male is suspected in another incident from Monday which involved making inappropriate comments to an adult female who was in her front yard doing yard work.  We take these reports seriously and have investigated each thoroughly.  However, no crimes have been committed at this time.  We are again reminding everyone to be aware of their surroundings and to not engage with strangers that are making you uncomfortable.

The male in each incident was described as a white male in his 60’s, with long white or gray hair and a white or gray beard.  This party is known to drive a black GMC pickup truck with New Hampshire plates.

The Wakefield Police Department was made aware that sometime last week, a male drove up to a teenage girl and asked her if she wanted a ride. She said no, and the man continued on his way with no further interaction.  The man was located, everyone involved was spoken to, and no crime had been committed.

With the nice weather here and school back in session, this is a good time to remind your children to not talk to strangers and to report any suspicious or other behavior that makes them uncomfortable to the police or a trusted adult.
