How do I report fraudulent charges on a credit/debit card?

Contact your bank or credit card company immediately. A police report can be filed by calling 781-245-1212 and speaking with the desk officer.

How do I report an online scam?

If you believe you are the victim of an Internet crime, or if you are aware of an attempted crime, you can file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center. The IC3 was established as a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to receive Internet related criminal complaints and to further research, develop, and refer the criminal complaints to federal, state, local, or international law enforcement and/or regulatory agencies for any investigation they deem to be appropriate.

The Wakefield Police Department no longer has blank crash report forms. Forms can be downloaded directly from the RMV here.

How do I drop off unwanted prescription medication?

The Wakefield Police does not take medications or syringes/sharps.  Further information
However, we do host a drug-take back day with the DEA twice a year.

To pay:

  • Mail in the orange envelope with a check enclosed for total dollar amount.
  • Bring to the drop off box at Town Hall.

To appeal:

You must request a hearing in writing. Forms can be located in the lobby of the Police Station or the basement of the Town Hall at the Parking Clerk’s office.

How do I pay or appeal a traffic citation?

Within 20 days of the date of the civil citation, you must check one of the two boxes on the back of the citation:

  • check Box 1 to pay the citation, or
  • check Box 2 to request a hearing (appeal)

You may pay a Civil Citation by mail, by Internet, or by phone. Appeals must be done by mail. Further information is available from the RMV website.

At this time we are offering courtesy child safety seat inspections on a first come, first served basis and when the Officers are available. To schedule an appointment send an email and someone will contact you.
