FAMILY SERVICES

The Family Services Officer (FSO) provides specialty services to individuals and families in need, and develops and assists with programs that help promote a safe and enriching environment.  The FSO is a liaison between the police department and several community and state organizations that focus on the overall well-being of our citizens.  Some of these areas of responsibility include:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Elder Affairs
  • Persons with a Disability
  • Persons Experiencing Homelessness
  • DCF Issues
  • Substance Abuse Assistance

In the area of Domestic Violence, the FSO is currently assisted by a representative from RESPOND as part of a safety grant.  RESPOND partners with individuals, families and communities to end this very serious public health issue. This individual may provide additional outreach to some our victims offering specialty services available from RESPOND such as safety planning, counseling, shelter, financial assistance, legal support, child services, etc.
