Citizens Police Academy

Dear Wakefield Resident,

The Wakefield Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy (CPA) this fall as we continue to build upon our strong community policing foundation. Our citizens have supported us through many challenging times and we consistently strive to support the needs of all members of our town. It is our goal that everyone from every background feels welcome here every day.

The CPA will be an eight-week program that will be held here at the Public Safety Building on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  It will begin on September 21st and run through November 9th. The class size will be limited, and candidates will be expected to attend all sessions. 

The CPA will include information on such topics as law, procedure, operations, use of force and de-escalation training, community outreach/social services, investigations, juvenile issues, domestic issues, prosecution, and much more. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and engage with multiple members of our department. An open exchange of ideas, information, and education will be the cornerstone of the program.

If you are interested in attending, please complete the attached application form. All applications must be received via drop-off or mailed to the Police Department by Monday August 23, 2021.
