Body Found in Lake Quannapowitt

Chief Rick Smith and Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan report that the Wakefield Police and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a body was found in Lake Quannapowitt this morning.

At approximately 8:56 a.m., police received a report of a body in the water along the Church Street side of Lake Quannapowitt.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders located a deceased male. Though it is very early in the investigation, there are no obvious signs of foul play.

This incident remains under active investigation by the Wakefield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
