Beware of Scams Relating to Bail of Family Members

Scams relating to the bail posting for family members who have allegedly been arrested in other states or countries is something that we have seen sporadically over recent years. Yesterday an elderly gentleman received a call from a male party claiming that his grandson had been arrested in China and needed bail money to get out. This was demanded in the form of Target gift cards, where the victim must purchase the cards and read the numbers back over the phone. We have seen this in the past, however it often involves a demand to wire money to another location.
