The Wakefield Police Department recognizes the importance of communicating with its senior citizen population in ways that are more effective for their lifestyle. Wakefield has several housing areas specifically set aside for its seniors.
Family Services Officer Amy Toothaker is the direct link between Wakefield's senior citizens and the Wakefield Police Department. The department now offers specialized training and seminars to any senior citizens group. Their instructional program covers personal and residential security issues as well as how to protect yourself from fraudulent activities by strangers either in person or by phone or email.
This program has raised the awareness of our senior citizens and has encouraged the seniors to make the Department aware of their particular needs so that officers are more prepared to respond effectively.
