In 1994 the Department recognized the importance of communicating with its senior citizen population in ways that were more effective for their lifestyle. Wakefield has several housing areas specifically set aside for its seniors.
Officers S. Ramocki and Morales volunteered to become the direct link between Wakefield's seniors and the Department. The Department now offers specialized training and seminars to any senior citizens group. Their instructional program covers personal and residential security issues as well as how to protect yourself from fraudulent activities by strangers either in person or by phone or mail.
This program has raised the awareness of our senior citizens and has encouraged the seniors to make the Department aware of their particular needs so that Officers are more prepared to respond effectively.
